Obituary of Richard Martin Trammel

Graveside Services for Richard Martin Trammel, Sr. of Louisiana, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Trammel, Jr., Patrick Trammel, John Froesel, Darrel Painter, Grey King and Terry Hedges. Richard, 88, was born on June 5, 1937 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Richard Odean and Ella Mae Martin Trammel. He passed away early Tuesday morning, December 16, 2025 at Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, MO. Richard was a graduate of Ritenour High School. He served his country in the United States Army from March 9, 1959 until his honorable discharge on March 24, 1965. Richard worked as a route examiner for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring on June 26, 1992 after 34 years of employment. He was a member and Past Commander of American Post #226 in Elsberry, and VFW Post #9064 in Elsberry. Richard was also an All-State Quartermaster from 1994-1995. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ella Trammel; and his brother, William Trammel. Survivors include his children: Richard Trammel, Jr. of California, Patrick Trammel of O’Fallon, MO, Cynthia Trammel and her companion, Steve Roberts, of O’Fallon, and Theresa Trammel and her companion, John Froesel of O’Fallon. Richard also leaves his sister-in-law, Debbie Trammel of Maryland Heights, MO; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
