Obituary of John William Rolfes

A Mass of Christian Burial for John William Rolfes of Winfield, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Fr. Richard Rath and Deacon Neal Westhoff will officiate. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. John, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 4, 2025 at Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, MO. Born March 13, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Hermann and Adelaide Siemer Rolfes. John was united in marriage on September 2, 1961 in Ferguson, MO to Mary Jean Hallerman. This union was blessed with four children: Thomas, Constance, J. Stephen and Daniel. John served his country as a member of the Missouri Air National Guard for 36 years from 1955-1991 and active duty overseas for the United States Air Force from October 1961 until his honorable discharge in August 1962. John enjoyed many years in the Missouri Air National Guard as a jet fighter mechanic and later worked for Department of the Army in St Louis until retirement. John and Jean moved to Winfield in 1967. They were active members of their community and church until their deaths. He was a member of American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe. John was preceded in death by his parents, Hermann and Adelaide Rolfes; his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Jean Rolfes, who died on July 7, 2011; two brothers: Herman Rolfes and Bernard Rolfes; two nieces: Susan and Debbie; and one nephew, Joe. Survivors include four children: Tom Rolfes and his wife, Teresa, of O’Fallon, MO, Connie Revell and her husband, Doug, of St. Charles, Steve Rolfes and his wife, Cheri, of Winfield, and Dan Rolfes and his wife, Karen, of O’Fallon. John also leaves eight grandchildren: Rebecca (Chris) Koch, Courtney (Donnie) Lovelady, Jennifer (Ben) Heitman, Austin Revell, JD (Brooke) Rolfes, Jacob Rolfes, Ben Rolfes and Zachery Rolfes; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. John will be cherished as a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for his love of his faith, his generous spirit and the love of card games. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
