Obituary of Sidney LeRoy Gladney

A Celebration of Life for Sidney LeRoy Gladney of Troy, MO will be at 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Sky Way All Event Venue at 588 S. Hwy W, Elsberry, MO. LeRoy, 72, was born on July 28, 1953 in St. Charles, MO, the son of Forrest Gladney and Susie Wells Chapman. He passed away early Monday morning, August 11, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. LeRoy served his country as a proud Marine from November 2, 1970 until his honorable discharge on March 30, 1977 as a Sergent, with many military achievements. During his service, LeRoy was in the 2nd Tank Battalion and served in Vietnam. He was united in marriage on July 28, 1974 in Elsberry, MO to Patricia Ann Johnson. This union was blessed with two sons: Joe and Aaron. LeRoy began his career as a lineman with Croft Electric and finished his last 28 years at Cuivre River Electric Cooperative, retiring on September 9, 2014 as a crew chief. LeRoy spent his extra time taking care of the Gladney Family Farm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and riding his side by sides and tractors. LeRoy lived a full life, creating many memories and stories along the way. He was an avid outdoorsman and took pride in everything he did. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents: Forrest Gladney and his wife, Hazel, and Susie Wells Chapman; one brother, Carl Eugene Gladney and his wife, Jan. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patty Gladney of Troy; their sons: Joe Gladney and his wife, Jamie, and Aaron Gladney and his wife, Doneta, all of Elsberry; and four grandchildren, Beau, Rylee, Milly, and Eva. LeRoy also leaves five siblings: Doug McKay and his wife, Barbara, of Troy, Dan McKay of Texas, Bill McKay of Wyoming, Judy Wilcox and her husband, Ben, of Troy and Paula Hoover and her husband, Carl, of Texas; extended family: Doug and Debbie Todd and Vickie McKay; many nieces, nephews, his beloved dog PDink, other relatives and many, many friends.
