Obituary of Betty Lou Skinner

Funeral Services for Betty Lou Skinner of Silex, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO were held at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry with inurnment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near St. Louis, MO. Rev. Ken Gamble, pastor of Silex Assembly of God Church officiated. Betty, 78, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2025 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy, MO. Born January 29, 1947 in Kansas, OK, she was the daughter of Benjamin C. and Emma Elizabeth Hutton Achor. Betty was united in marriage on April 14, 2012 in Silex to the love of her life, Rev. James Elston Skinner. Betty worked as a CNA at DePaul Hospital for 7 years and at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital for several years. Betty loved watching hummingbirds. Betty adored her church family and enjoyed their Krispy Kreme donut breakfasts which she came to call “Pastor’s donuts.” Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Emma Achor; many siblings; and her beloved husband, Rev. James Skinner, who died on September 30, 2022. Survivors include two daughters; and her precious fur baby, Gizmo. Betty also leaves her church Pastors, Ken Gamble and his wife, Darla, of Silex, MO, her loving church family; her dear friend, Susie; and one sister. Memorials may be made to the Silex Assembly of God Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
