Obituary of John & Janice Gleaves

Janice Lynn Gleaves was born March 10, 1946 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Wilbur and Vernice Stafford Knuttel. She passed away Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2025 at her home at the age of 78. John Thompson Gleaves was born May 2, 1946 in Louisville, the son of Leon R. and Fain King Gleaves. He passed away early Monday morning, June 2, 2025 at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, MO at the age of 79. Janice and John were united in marriage on June 1, 1968 in Louisville. Their union was blessed with three children: John, Chris and Cara. John served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1971. Janice worked as a teacher for the Winfield R-4 School District, retiring in 2000. John worked as a Professor for Washington University. Janice and John were preceded in death by Janice’s parents, Wilbur and Vernice Knuttel; and her brother, Steven Knuttel. They were also preceded in death by John’s parents, Leon and Fain Gleaves; and his brother, Leon Gleaves. Survivors include their children: John, Chris and Cara Gleaves, all of Winfield, MO; and Janice’s sister, Susan Larrea of Kentucky. There are no services scheduled.
