Obituary of John Frank Henke, Sr.
A Funeral Mass for John Frank Henke, Sr. of Winfield, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Jerry Kaimann, retired pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be John Henke, Jr., David Henke, Gerald Henke, Paula Henke, Rita Barber, Brent Barber and Wyatt Morrisson.
John, 76, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at his home near Winfield. Born February 20, 1949 in Florissant, MO, he was the son of Frank A. and Margaret Bolte Henke, Sr. John was united in marriage on October 18, 1980 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church to Linda Lucille Kaimann. This union was blessed with five children: John, Jr., David, Gerald, Paula and Rita. John worked as an inspector for Chrysler, retiring December 31, 1999. He then drove a school bus, worked for True Value, and for Stan Rolfs. He was a longtime member of the Old Monroe Lions; and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 44 years and 8 months.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Henke; one brother, Frank Henke, Jr; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Whitlock and Don Heitman; and one grandchild, Brett Andrew Pruitt.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Linda Henke of Winfield; their children: John F. Henke, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Elsberry, MO, David W. Henke and his wife, Lisa, of Moscow Mills, MO, Gerald Henke of Winfield; Paula Henke of Winfield and Rita Barber and her husband, Brent, of Old Monroe; and four grandchildren: Ave L. Henke, Liam J. Henke, Ellie M. Johnson and Etley Barber. John also leaves his siblings: Rita Kaimann and her husband, William, of Old Monroe, Beatrice “Betty” Whitlock of O’Fallon, MO, Alice Hoeltge and her husband, Tom, of Troy, MO, Teresa Keeteman and her husband, Neal, of Old Monroe, David Henke and his wife, Debbie of Moscow Mills, and Margaret Hoeltge and her husband, Gary, of O’Fallon; one sister-in-law, Monica Henke of O’Fallon; his stepbrothers: Dennis Wehmeier and his wife, Terri, of Troy, David Wehmeier and his wife, Sharon, of St. Peters, MO and Henry Wehmeier and his wife, Peggy, of O’Fallon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
