Obituary of Donald Jabe Brinkman
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Jabe Brinkman of Old Monroe, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Michael Lampe, church pastor, and Deacon Neal Westhoff will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Brinkman, Benjamin Brinkman, Ryan Brinkman, Tyler Brinkman, Jaime Spath and Emily Spath.
Don, 85, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2025 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born October 26, 1939 in Winfield, MO, he was the son of Parker Brown and Nellie Mae Lemery Brinkman. Don was a 1957 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on December 27, 1958 in Old Monroe to Carol Mary Wilke. This union was blessed with two children: Beverly and Barry.
Don was a past member of the Old Monroe Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He also served several terms on the Winfield R-IV School Board. Don worked as the Operations Manager for O’Fallon Gas, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed being on the river, boating, hunting, fishing and coaching his kids’ sports teams. Don was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Nellie Brinkman; three brothers: David, Garlan and Marlan Brinkman; and his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Brinkman, who died on March 1, 2016.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Spath and her husband, Dale, of Dardenne Prairie, MO; one son, Barry Brinkman and his wife, Mindy, of Old Monroe; ten grandchildren: Andrew Brinkman and his wife, Tasha, Benjamin Brinkman and his wife, Alicia, Ryan Brinkman, Tyler Brinkman, Jaime Spath, Emily Spath, Danielle Eaton, Brian Spath, Shannon Lippert and Christopher Spath and his wife, Amber; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Jordan, Katie, Jack, Oliver, Charlie and Henry Brinkman, Bentley Spath, Allyson, Ayla and Aria Eaton, Greta and Peck Spath, Sam and Drew Lippert and Lilly Spath. Don also leaves one sister, Julie Murphy of Old Monroe; one sister-in-law, Sharon Brinkman of Old Monroe; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
