Obituary of John Russell Dixon

Funeral Services for John Russell Dixon of Winfield, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Pastor Fielding Poe, pastor of Winfield First Baptist Church will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Sitton, David Miller, Sam Miller, Rob Smith, Chris Maiuro and Bobby Schlueter. John, 62, passed away Monday morning, May 19, 2025 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born January 20, 1963 in Troy, MO, he was the son of John Milton and Barbara Janice Sitton Dixon. John was a 1981 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on September 4, 1987 at New Salem Baptist Church to Theresa Sue “Terri” Miller. This union was blessed with two children: Tommy and Lenzi. John worked as a tool and die maker for Toyota-Bodine, retiring in April 2024. John loved to travel to National Parks, especially to Rocky Mountain National Park. He was a former volunteer fireman. John was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Winfield. John was preceded in death by his father, John M. Dixon; and two brothers-in-law: Mike Kight and Charles Colbert. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 38 years, Terri Dixon of Winfield; two children: Tommy Dixon and his wife, Haley, of Creve Coeur, MO and Lenzi Ehrlich and her husband, Michael, of O’Fallon, MO; and three grandchildren: Lucy Dixon, Jackson Ehrlich and Landon Ehrlich. John also leaves his mother, Barb Dixon of Winfield; two sisters: Caroline Kight of Troy, MO and Michele Gallup and her husband, Keith, of Winfield; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Pam Miller of Winfield; sister-in-law, Crystal Smith and her husband, Rob, of Winfield; brother-in-law, David Miller of Silex, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
