Obituary of Dorothy Mae Scheig

Memorial Services for Dorothy Mae Scheig of O’Fallon, MO will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Larry Gallaher, pastor of Asbury Chapel near Foley, MO, will officiate. Inurnment and graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near St. Louis, MO. Dorothy, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born July 11, 1936 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Alexander and Lena Marsanick Michler. Dorothy was a graduate of Beaumont High School in St. Louis. She was united in marriage on June 30, 1957 in St. Louis to George Francis Schieg. This union was blessed with one son, Steven. Dorothy worked as a bus driver for the Hazelwood School District for over 20 years. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Lena Michler; her brother, Gilbert Michler; her sister, Leona Jean Breer; and her beloved husband of 45 years, George Schieg, who died on May 11, 2002. Survivors include one son, Steven Schieg of O’Fallon; and one grandson, Tyler Scheig of Florissant, MO. Dorothy also leaves her niece, Bonnie Zabriski and her husband, David, of Winfield; one nephew, Roger Breer of Barnhart, MO; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
