Obituary of Janice L. Edinger Knapp

A Mass of Christian Burial for Janice Leona Edinger Knapp of Old Monroe, MO will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Michael Lampe, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Janice, 91, passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025 at Abbey Senior Health in O’Fallon, MO. Born June 17, 1933 in Old Monroe, MO, she was the daughter of Edward Bernard and Leona May Hemmersmeyer Hoelting. Janice attended school in St. Charles, MO. She was united in marriage on September 2, 1951 in Mississippi County, AR to William Fred Edinger, Jr. This union was blessed with one son, Jim. Janice was later married again on March 6, 1971in St. Charles to William Knapp. She worked as a waitress in area restaurants. Janice was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO and participating in the quilt socials. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Leona Hoelting; two brothers: Edward and Allyn Hoelting; one sister, Marita Gnade; her first husband, William Edinger, Jr; and her second husband, William Knapp. Survivors include her son, Jim Edinger and his wife, Lisa, of Winfield; three step-grandchildren: Michael Bendell and his wife, Cheyenne, of Wentzville, MO, Leanna Bendell of St. Louis, MO and Travis Bendell of Winfield, MO; and two great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Olivia Bendell. Janice also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
