Obituary of Erma Lee Masterson

Erma Lee Masterson, 97, of Foley, MO passed away peacefully Monday evening, February 24, 2025. Born May 23, 1927 in Greenfield, MO, she was the daughter of Justin and Ada Velma Davis Carlock. Erma graduated from Great Mills High School in Maryland. She was united in marriage on October 2, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Elsberry, MO to Alfred Warren “Monk” Masterson. This union was blessed with three children: twin daughters, Nola and Marla, and son, Kenny. Early in her working years, Erma worked in Oak Ridge, TN during the Manhattan Project, where the A bomb was built. Later, she was a hardworking farm wife. She enjoyed reading, sewing and bird watching. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Ada Carlock; one brother, Justin Eugene Carlock; one daughter, Marla Masterson; two grandsons: Lucas and Gabe Masterson; and her beloved husband of 59 years, Monk Masterson, who died on April 17, 2008. Survivors include two children: Nola Johnsen and her husband, Flip, of Crossville, TN and Kenny Masterson and his wife, Sherry, of Foley; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Julie, Matthew, Rob, Adam, Steve and Krista; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great, great-grandchildren. Erma also leaves her loving dog, Choco; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
