Obituary of Mary Lynn Howard
Mary Lynn (Parks) Howard passed away peacefully at her home on February 17, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born in Marshall, Missouri on August 18, 1934 to Isiah Hilary Linwood Parks and Gladys Ermine (Solomon) Parks. Mary Lynn was united in marriage to the late John Randolph Howard on June 23, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before he passed away on August 17, 2016.
They were blessed with one son John Randolph Howard II (Susan), and two daughters: Lisa Howard Grace (Jeff), and Amy Howard Tobias (Corey); and six grandchildren: Lucinda Lynn Winter, Zachary Howard (Alexandra), Madison Howard-Meehan (Jack), Elijah Wyatt Tobias, Jackson Oakley Tobias, and Tyler Bartz (Avery). She loved her great-grandchildren: Quinn, Baker, Charlotte, and Marjorie is on the way.
Mary Lynn was a kindergarten and second grade teacher in the Elsberry School District for 40 years. She taught generations of families in Elsberry. Mary Lynn was very active in the community and the Elsberry United Methodist Church. She loved spending time playing cards with her bridge club ladies. She was a very giving person, with a heart of gold. Mary Lynn will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers that helped take care of Mary Lynn: Donna, Sarah, Carole, Grace, and Nellie. Thank you so much for the love, care, and patience you showed our mom.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church, 109 North 4th Street, Elsberry, Missouri 63343. To continue Mom's love of teaching kindergarten, her love of reading, and her life long support of St. Jude's, these are three memorials we have picked for you to donate to if you so choose: Elsberry R-2 School District (to be used for school supplies for elementary students/teachers), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (or) Warrenton Friends of the Library.
