Obituary of Michael Ray Kight

Michael Ray Kight Funeral Services for Michael Ray Kight of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Masterson, J.R. Copeland, Mike Dooley, Wayne Mueller, Ronnie Sitton, Don Sullivan, Jim Thornhill and Dale Endraske. Mr. Kight, 58, passed away late Tuesday morning, February 3, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born January 3, 1957 in a United States Air Force Hospital in Deols, France, he was the son of Henry and Stella Ann White Kight, Jr. Mike was a graduate of Hazelwood Central High School. He was united in marriage on November 14, 1994 in Foley, MO to Caroline Elaine Dixon. This union was blessed with three children: James Michael, Emily Jo and Sarah Elaine. Mike served his country in the United States Navy. He then worked as the maintenance foreman for Wood River Shell Refinery, retiring in June, 2013. Mike was on the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Missouri Sports Shooting Association. He owned Winfield Firearms Training and was the manager of Steele Point Guns in Troy, MO. Mike was a member of NRA, Friends of NRA (Local Branch) and of the Gateway Civil Liberties Alliance. He was also a former member of the Winfield/Foley Fire Protection District. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Kight, Jr., who died on January 4, 2006; and one brother, Robert Kight, who died in 1988. Survivors include his beloved wife of 20 years, Caroline Kight of Winfield; and three children: James Kight of St. Louis, Emily Kight and Sarah Kight, both of Winfield. Mike also leaves his mother, Stella Kight of Florissant, MO; one brother, Larry Wayne Kight of Bowling Green, MO; his nephew, Robby Jo Kight of Scottsburg, IN; several other relatives, and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
