Velma Jean Tyc Funeral services for Velma Jean Tyc of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Barry Lagg, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Tyc, 90, died Sunday evening, March 6, 2005 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born February 12, 1915 in Salem, MO, she was the daughter of the late Walter Otto and Allie Cynthia Morton Mooney. She was united in marriage March 26, 1941, in St. Louis, MO to Frank Joseph Tyc. A resident of Florissant, MO most of her life, she moved to the Elsberry area two years ago to be near her daughter. Besides her parents, Frank and Allie Mooney, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Letty Jones, Adele Broyles, Sylvia Higgins and Vera Heitman; one brother, Otto Mooney; and her husband of 37 years, Frank Tyc, who died on May 31, 1978. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Berroa and her husband, Jose, of Elsberry; two grandchildren: Airman Matt Berroa of Spokane, WA and Lisa Berroa of Elsberry; and one great grandchild, Alexa Berroa. She also leaves one sister, Marie Bottorff and her husband, Bill of Salem, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until time of the service Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
