Obituary of Alberta Christina Brown

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alberta Christina Brown of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sheila Rankin, Heidi Bauer, Shane Brown, Colleen Fagan, Katie Cappel, Molly Mueller, Lance Bobeen and Hannah Bobeen. Mrs. Brown, 90, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2017 at Meadowlands Assisted Living in O’Fallon, MO. Born November 26, 1926 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of Albert George and Theresa Elizabeth Wehde Burkemper. Alberta attended Immaculate Conception School and Troy High School. She was united in marriage on September 8, 1945 at the Immaculate Conception Church to Robert Frederick “Bob” Brown. This union was blessed with three children: Ronald, Victor and Marie. Alberta was a loving housewife, a clerk at various Troy businesses and a caring Nanny. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Sodality. Alberta was also a member of the Old Monroe Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Theresa Burkemper; four brothers: James “Jim” Burkemper, Jerome “Jerry” Burkemper, Alvin Burkemper, and Delbert “Duck” Burkemper; two sisters: Mary Jane Burkemper and Mary Lou Creech and her husband, Vincil; one brother-in-law, Sylvester “Ves” Bauer; one son, Ronald “Ron” Brown; one grandson, Robb Brown; one son-in-law, Mark Bobeen; and her beloved husband of nearly 33 years, Bob Brown, who died May 9, 1978. Survivors include one son, Vic Brown and his wife, Joan, of Moscow Mills, MO; one daughter, Marie Bobeen of Old Monroe; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Brown of Old Monroe; ten grandchildren: Sheila Rankin and her husband, Richard, Karen Gnade and her husband, Steve, Heidi Bauer and her husband, Don, Shane Brown and his wife, Kari, Paula Vail and her husband, Marc, Colleen Fagan and her husband, Jay, Katie Cappel and her husband, Shane, Molly Mueller and her husband, Dale, Lance Bobeen and his wife, Samantha, and Hannah Bobeen; and twenty-two great-grandchildren: Riley, Maggie, Richie, Abby, Malachi, Harper, Campbell, Chase, Carter, Josie, Allie, Abby, Cooper, Olivia, Louise, Landry, Piper, Lexi, Brady, Etta, Baby Mueller, and Steele. Alberta also leaves two sisters: Genevieve Bauer of St. Peters, MO and Eileen “Wink” Maher and her husband, Orville “Oz” of O’Fallon; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Burkemper of O’Fallon, Patsy Burkemper of Old Monroe and Reida Brown of Montana; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO and again on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
