Obituary of Virginia Elizabeth James

Funeral Services for Virginia Elizabeth “Cricket” James of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Roger Alford will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy McGee, David McGee, Randy McGee, Gary Dunn, Billy James McGee and Dale Humphrey. Mrs. James, 77, passed away Monday afternoon, March 13, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born March 18, 1939 in Ripley, MS, she was the daughter of Ira Austin and Thelma May Garland Morrison. Virginia graduated high school in Pine Grove, MS. She was united in marriage on January 19, 1991 in Schoolcraft, MI to Wright Everett James. She was a loving homemaker. Virginia was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Virginia could often be found gardening or crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Thelma Morrison; her husband, Wright James, who died June 3, 1995; one son, Ricky McGee; two brothers: Roy and Vertis Morrison; and one sister, Lilly Hargett. Survivors include her sons: Billy McGee of Lake Stevens, WA, David McGee of Brownwood, TX and Randy McGee of Lake Stevens; one “adopted” daughter, DeLinda Arnold of Town Creek, AL; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Virginia also leaves three brothers: Alvis Morrison of Booneville, MS, Alvie Morrison and his wife, Lacy, of Ripley, MS, and Wayne Morrison and his wife, Diane, of Blue Mountain, MS; three sisters: Ruby Schwatz of Husum, WA, Iva Cox of Ripley, MS and Lenis Mullins of Walnut, MS; lots and lots nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
