Obituary of Georgia Marie Horton

Funeral Services for Georgia Marie Kinsler Horton of Wilmington, NC will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry, MO. Rev. Roger Briggs, church pastor, and Rev. Raymond Doussard, Chaplain for Celtic Hospice, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Armbruster, Billy Collins, Donnie Kinsler, Dean Kinsler, Danny Kinsler, Peter Kinsler, Van Vaught, Leroy Kinsler, Charles Kinsler, Quinn Curran, Barbara Jarvis and Charlie McLeod. Mrs. Horton, 85, passed away Saturday evening, March 11, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. Born July 16, 1931 in Blackwater, VA, she was the daughter of Charles and Virgie Minor Kinsler. Georgia was united in marriage on September 9, 1948 in Harlan, KY to Henry Luther “Buster” Horton. This union was blessed with two children: Jerry and Judy. Georgia worked at RCA in Indiana, as a seamstress at the garment factory in Elsberry, and for the Parts Exchange, also in Elsberry. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Georgia was a longtime member of Star Hope Baptist Church and also attended Scotts Hill Baptist Church and Peace Baptist Church. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virgie Kinsler; six brothers: Buster Kinsler, Andy Kinsler, Abe Kinsler, Charles Kinsler, Jr., Hugh Kinsler, Quincy Kinsler and one as an infant; three sisters: Hattie Collins, Ruth Vaught, and Ellen Elizabeth Kinsler, who died as a baby; one grandson, Zachary Horton, who died October 17, 2009; and her beloved husband of 55 years, Buster Horton, who died October 31, 2003. Survivors include her children: Jerry Horton and his wife, Vickie and Judy Armbruster, all of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Landon Armbruster and his wife, Julie, of Tom’s River, NJ, Brook Gay and her husband, Jason, of Charlotte, NC and Erin Montes-De-Oca and her husband, Romeo, of Wilmington; and seven great-grandchildren: Cameron Horton, Alex and Mason Gay, Kelsey Armbruster, and Lily, Aiden and Paige Montes-De-Oca. Georgia also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous friends and the Champion Nursing Staff for 3 ½ years of wonderful care. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Family of Georgia Horton to be given to the Staff of Champion Assisted Living in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
