Obituary of Leonard Edward Reller

A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard Edward Reller of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian M. Reller, Brian D. Reller, Nick Burkemper, Andrew Lofgren, Dustin Boyd, Dave Reller and Gerald “Buzz” Rothermich. Mr. Reller, 82, passed away Sunday evening, February 12, 2017 at his home. Born October 29, 1934 in Old Monroe, he was the son of William Bernard and Coletta Ann Burkemper Reller. Leonard was a graduate of Buchanan High School. He was united in marriage on August 17, 1963 in Josephville, MO to Virginia Catherine Wortmann. This union was blessed with six children: Donald, Jeffrey, Amy, Becky, Mary Kay and Timothy. He worked as a carpenter for Freise Construction, retiring in October, 1996. Leonard was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Mens’ Sodality. He was also a member of the Old Monroe Volunteer Fire Department and of Carpenters Union Local #1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Coletta Reller; one sister, Dolores Hoelting; one brother, Donald Reller; and one brother-in-law, George Kent. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years; Ginny Reller, of Old Monroe; three sons: Donald Reller and his wife, Deborah, of Old Monroe, Jeffrey Reller of Old Monroe, and Dr. Tim Reller and his wife, Brooke, of Elsberry, MO; three daughters: Amy Bartig and her husband, Dr. Mike Bartig, of Kearney, MO, Becky Burkemper and her husband, Glenn, of Kearney, and Mary Kay Lofgren and her husband, Christopher, of Ballwin, MO; eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Leonard also leaves two brothers: Wilfred Reller and his wife, Irene Sullivan, of Golden, CO, and John Reller and his wife, Joyce, of Old Monroe; two sisters: Catherine Reller of Old Monroe, and Helen Kent of St. Louis, MO; one brother-in-law, Allyn Hoelting of Old Monroe; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Immaculate Conception.
