Obituary of John Henry Bromwich

Funeral Services for John Henry Bromwich of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Foley Baptist Church in Foley, MO. Rev. B.T. Clemons, interim church pastor, will officiate with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Chris Bromwich, Jason Bromwich, Joey Bromwich, Chad Bromwich, Jason Ratcliff and Justin Ratcliff. Mr. Bromwich, 90, passed away Sunday night, October 23, 2016 at Silex Community Care near Silex, MO. Born October 4, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Edward and Lillian Schmidt Bromwich. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from February 8, 1945 until he was honorably discharged on December 1, 1946 as a TEC-3. John was united in marriage on October 16, 1948 in Troy, MO to Theresa Bertina Yelick. This union was blessed with five children: John Jay, Mary Frances, Michael, Allen and Cathy Delaine. John worked as a carpenter for McCarthy for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Carpenter’s Local #1875 (now Local #32) in Winfield. John was a longtime member of Foley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian Bromwich; one daughter, Mary Holdenried; one son, John Bromwich; his brother, Edward “Bud” Bromwich; and one sister, Virginia “Sis” Van Esler. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Bertina Bromwich of Winfield; one daughter, Cathy Cox and her husband, Ron, of Lafayette, IN; two sons: Michael Bromwich and his wife, Viola, of Foley and Allen Bromwich and his wife, Kathy, of Winfield; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
