Obituary of Phyllis Irene McGlothlin

A Memorial Service for Phyllis Irene “Flip” McGlothlin of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, church pastor, and Rev. Tom Schofield will officiate. Mrs. McGlothlin, 88, passed away Friday morning, September 16, 2016 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born February 23, 1928 in Seaton, IL, she was the daughter of Don and Dora Thompson Hood. She was united in marriage to Elbert Lavonne “Mac” McGlothlin on July 18, 1981 in Bridgeton, MO. “Flip” worked as a bartender at Hilltop Bar in Bridgeton, MO for several years. “Flip” and “Mac” moved to the Elsberry area in 2007. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Dora Hood; three brothers: Bob Hood, Mike Hood and Harold Hood; and two sisters: Gladys Houston and Florence Debolt. Survivors include beloved husband of 35 years, Elbert “Mac” McGlothlin of Elsberry; her step-daughter: Liane Walla of O’Fallon, MO; a step-son, Kevin McGlothlin and his wife, Wilma, of Hannibal, MO; a son-in-law, Steve Grimsley of LaGrange, MO; and seven grandchildren. “Flip” also leaves her sister, Gertrude Marie Beede and her husband, Duane, of Camdenton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry.
