Obituary of Alvina Louise Saucerman

Funeral services for Alvina “Venie” Louise Saucerman of Elsberry, MO (formerly of Hazelwood, MO) will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Jeff Evenson, pastor of the Christian Community Church in Troy, MO, will officiate with burial in the Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Wallace, Bob Foster, Danny Morris, Ed Morris, Morris Colbert and Drew Foster. Mrs. Saucerman, 95, passed away Saturday morning, September 17, 2016 at the Elsberry Healthcare Center near Elsberry. Born September 25, 1920 in the Apex community near Elsberry, MO, she was the daughter of Frank Walker and Georgia Lee Murphy Morris. She was united in marriage on April 25, 1942 in Elsberry to Clyde Morgan Saucerman. This union was blessed with one son, James. During World War II, she worked in the Civil Service as a truck driver. She was employed for many years as an Admitting Clerk at LaHabra Hospital near Los Angeles, CA, retiring in 1980. Venie returned to Missouri in 1996 and made her home in Hazelwood. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Florissant, MO. Venie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Georgia Morris; two brothers: Homer K. Morris and Joe Morris; one sister, Martha Richey; her beloved husband of 25 years, Clyde Saucerman, who died July 25, 1967; and their son, James C. Saucerman, who died December 15, 2005. Survivors include two sisters: Annabell Foster of Ferguson, MO, and Betty Jean Cox and her husband, Claude, of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
