Obituary of JoAnn Smith

Funeral Services for JoAnn Smith of Moscow Mills, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Burial will be in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Jr., Austin Moore, Noah Smith, T.J. Washington, Isiah Garcia, Romel Hall and Michael Hendricks. Mrs. Smith, 80, passed away Thursday morning, August 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born October 13, 1935 in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Raymond Robert and Viola Lucille Cooper Bowlsby. JoAnn was united in marriage on July 19, 1952 in St. Louis, MO to Lawrence Edward Smith, Sr. This union was blessed with three children: Mickie, Lawrence, Jr. and Richard. She was a loving homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Viola Bowlsby; three brothers: Bill Bowlsby and two as infants; one sister, Sandi Bach; and her beloved husband of 51 years, Lawrence Smith, Sr. who died August 5, 2003. Survivors include her children: Mickie A. Siefker of Moscow Mills, Lawrence E. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Diana, of Fort Wayne, IN and Richard Smith of Elsberry, MO; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. JoAnn also leaves three sisters: Donna Brutcher of Barnhart, MO, Pat Lindsey of Whiteside, MO and Roberta Bowlsby of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society (or) the Susan B.
