Obituary of Elvera Ann Burkemper

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elvera Ann Henke Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Henke, Paul Henke, Mark Henke, Brian Henke, Brett Henke and Daniel Burkemper. Mrs. Burkemper, 92, passed away Wednesday evening, August 3, 2016 at The Meadowlands in O’Fallon, MO. Born August 19, 1923 in St. Paul, MO, she was the daughter of Leo Edward and Frances B. Schulte Molitor. Elvera was united in marriage on April 29, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Elroy Henke. This union was blessed with two children: Randall and Bonnie. Following Elroy’s death in 1958, Elvera was later married on June 6, 1959 in O’Fallon to Arthur Henry Burkemper. His children, Leroy, John, Richard, Melvin and Mary joined their home. Art and Elvera were blessed with one daughter, Victoria. Elvera was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Old Monroe Lions Club. Elvera worked for several years as the head cook for Immaculate Conception School. She loved puzzles, painting and fancy sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Frances Molitor; three brothers: Ralph L. Molitor, Leo E. Molitor, Jr. and Anthony Molitor; two sisters: Edith Sunder and Rosemary Wilburn; one granddaughter, Stormy; one great-grandson, Robbie; her first husband, Elroy Henke; and her second husband of 52 years, Arthur Burkemper, who died March 28, 2012. Survivors include her children: Randall Henke and his wife, Ruth, of Old Monroe, Bonnie LeMunyon and her husband, Frank, of Webster Groves, MO and Vickie Borron and her husband, Bob, of Holden, MO; her stepchildren: Leroy Burkemper and his wife, Patty, of Rosemont, MN, John “Jack” Burkemper and his wife, Ginger, of Elsberry, MO, Richard “Dick” Burkemper and his wife, Mary, of Clayton, MO, Melvin Burkemper and his wife, Kathy, of Old Monroe and Mary Conlon of Creve Coeur, MO; twenty-three grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren. Elvera also leaves four brothers: Joseph Molitor, of O’Fallon, MO, James Molitor and his wife, Darlene, of O’Fallon, Charles Molitor, of Chesterfield, MO, and David Molitor of St. Peters, MO; two sisters: Dorothy Coleman of Harvester, MO and Shirley Horstmeier and her husband, Leroy, of St Charles, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
