Obituary of Donald Gary Hall

Funeral Services for Donald Gary “Buddy” Hall of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Abby Hall of Smith Chapel and Rev. Paul Garven of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Mr. Hall, 68, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016 at his home near Elsberry. Born August 13, 1947 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Norvell Sylvester and Doris Maurine Aderton. Buddy was a 1965 graduate of Clopton High School. He attended Hannibal LaGrange College from 1965 until 1967. Buddy graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1969. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from October 30, 1969 until he was honorably discharged on October 6, 1975. Donald was united in marriage on December 6, 1986 in Festus, MO to Judy Elaine Brown. This union was blessed with one daughter, Abigail Laurel. Buddy was the owner and operator of Donald Hall Grain and Trucking for 30 years, retiring in 2004. He was a farmer until the time of his death. Buddy was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norvell and Doris Hall; and one sister, Bonnie Occhi. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Judy Hall of Elsberry; and their daughter, Abby Hall of Elsberry. Buddy also leaves one brother, Benny Hall and his wife, Hettie, of Eolia, MO; two sisters: Sharon Worthington of Bowling Green, MO and Karen Norton of Clarksville, MO; one brother-in-law, Richard Occhi of Troy; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
