Obituary of Harry Gene Ogden

Funeral Services for Harry Gene “Bubba” Ogden of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sam Byers, pastor of the Elsberry First Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Chester Koch, Shorty Watkins, Billy Howard, Darryl Painter, Chris Koch, Steve Wilch, Adam Talbot, Sam Pickard, Kevin Dotson and Jack Ivy. Mr. Ogden, 62, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 8, 2016 at his home. Born November 11, 1953 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Harry Eldon and Lee Ellen Watkins Ogden. He was a 1971 graduate of Elsberry High School. Harry Gene was united in marriage on July 21, 1981 in Elsberry to Kathryn Ann “Kathy” Talbot. This union was blessed with three children: Lindsay, Joe and Jenny. He worked for many years as a concrete contractor and finisher for Hoette Construction, retiring in 2013. Harry Gene was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Cement Masons Local #527 in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lee Ellen Chamberlain, who died December 26, 2014; and his daughter, Lindsay Jo Ogden-Whyte, who died September 1, 2014. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 35 years, Kathy Ogden of Elsberry; their son, Joe Ogden and his wife, Lonni, of Elsberry; daughter, Jenny Garnett and her husband, Josey, of Macon, MO; son-in-law, Mike Whyte of Elsberry; and two grandsons: Mason Whyte and Ozzie Garnett. Harry Gene also leaves his father, Harry Ogden and his wife, Gayle, of Elsberry; his step-father, Lindell Chamberlain of Elsberry; his siblings: Curtis Ogden and his wife, Jeanne, Andrea Davis and her husband, David, and Kelly Burkemper and her husband, Andy, all of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
