Obituary of Joseph Scott Landers, Jr

Funeral Services for Joseph “J.J.” Scott Landers, Jr. of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in the Wellsville City Cemetery in Wellsville, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Daly, David Mayes, Paul LaBanca and Bobby Mahurin. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Tom Lenkart. J.J., 2, passed away Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016 at his home. Born April 10, 2014 in O’Fallon, MO, he was the son of Joseph Scott and Amanda Haislip Landers, Sr. He loved Monster trucks and matchbox cars. J.J. took enjoyment in “taking people down” with his grocery cart. He was known for carrying around his Xbox controller and playing with his tablet. J.J. had a wonderful time playing outside with his sister and brother. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Homer and Judith Haislip, Jr.; and his aunt, Ann Renae Haislip. J.J. is survived by his parents, Joseph and Amanda Landers, Sr.; his brother, Jonathan Haislip; his sister, Emma Landers; his paternal grandparents: Twila French of Drain, OR and George French of Bernie, MO; and his great-grandmother, Ella Walton of Malden, MO. He also leaves his aunts and uncles: Tammie “TT” Daly of Elsberry, Robert Haislip of Wright City, MO, Joann French of Missouri, Julie French of Missouri, Josh French of Missouri and Justin French of Oregon; several cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
