Obituary of Gerald Elliott Ashwill, Jr.

Masonic Services for Gerald Elliott Ashwill, Jr. of Winfield, MO will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Mr. Ashwill, Jr., 74, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2016 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, MO. Born October 18, 1941 in Richmond, GA, he was the son of Gerald Elliott and Beulah May Graham Ashwill, Sr. Jerry was united in marriage on January 20, 1963 in Louisville, KY to Mary Bernice Higdon. This union was blessed with one daughter, Jane Luraleen. Jerry worked as an Electrical Technician for McDonnell Douglas and later Boeing, retiring January 31, 1997. He was a member and past-Master of New Salem Masonic Lodge #270, AF&AM which is now the Lincoln County Masonic Lodge #682, AF&AM in Winfield. Jerry was a member of Makin Memorial United Methodist Church in Winfield. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to sailboat at Carlyle Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Beulah Ashwill, Sr. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ashwill of Winfield; their daughter, Jane Luraleen Ashwill and her husband, David Michael Keller Ashwill, of Foley, MO; and one granddaughter, Megean Elizabeth Hubbartt of St. Charles, MO. Jerry also leaves his sister, Patricia Greenwood and her husband, Jack, of Susie St. Marie, Ontario, Canada; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
