Obituary of John Lowery Fluesmeier

Funeral Services for John “Jack” Lowery Fluesmeier of St. Charles, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Christview Christian Church in St. Charles. Rev. Phillip Perrey, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Fluesmeier, Lloyd Akers, Ronnie Akers, Nick Erbe, Andy Erbe and Heath Young. Mr. Fluesmeier, 85, passed away Monday evening, November 16, 2015 at his home. Born March 10, 1930 in Augusta, MO, he was the son of Arsdal Louvaine and Nan Elizabeth Lowery Fluesmeier. After the age of 6, Jack was raised by his grandparents, John and Edgaretta Lowery. He was a graduate of Belgrade High School. Jack served his country in the United States Army from November 28, 1951 until he was honorably discharged as a PFC on August 27, 1953. Jack was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Campaign Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, an Over Seas Service Bar and a Combat Infantry Badge. Jack continued to serve his country in the United States Air Force Reserves, until he was honorably discharged on October 31, 1959. Jack was united in marriage on March 16, 1956 in Malden, MO to Doris June Riddle. Their home was blessed with one son, Rick. Jack worked as an aircraft mechanic for TWA, retiring in 1995. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #312 in St. Charles and VFW Post #2866, also in St. Charles. He was also a member of Christview Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arsdale and Nan Fluesmeier; his grandparents, John Tally and Edgaretta McDonelle Lowery; two brothers: Louvaine Fluesmeier and his wife, Evie and Luckette Fluesmeier and his wife, Mary; one sister, Betty Akers.; and his son, Rick Reed, who died July 18, 2006. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Doris Fluesmeier of St. Charles; his daughter-in-law, Claudia Reed of Troy, MO; five grandchildren, including Josh Reed and his wife, Laura, of St. Charles; ten great-grandchildren, including Dakota Reed; and one great, great-grandchild. Jack also leaves two sisters: Patricia Nan Koch of St. Peters, MO and Mary Barnes and her husband, Claude, of St. Charles; one brother-in-law, Don Akers of Belgrade, MO several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Friday, November 20, 2015 at Christview Christian Church.
