Obituary of Thomas Richard Evans

Funeral Services for Thomas Richard Evans of Troy, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate with burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood, near Silex, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Horton, Korey Sheets, David Turnbull, Brandon Evans, Blake Evans, Ryan King and Jacob Sheets. Mr. Evans, 78, passed away Wednesday morning, September 30, 2015 at his home. Born December 29, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Harry and Frances Fister Evans. He was a 1955 graduate of Laboure High School in St. Louis. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on February 13, 1965. He was united in marriage on February 13, 1960 in Sikeston, MO to Bernadine Georgia Hann. This union was blessed with three children: Theresa, Susan and Larry. He was self-employed for many years with Evans Heating & Cooling, retiring in 1998. Tom was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #36 in St. Louis. He was active with the Caring & Sharing Pantry and the Lincoln County Democrat Club. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Frances Evans; and his brother-in-law, Jim Brennan. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Bernadine Evans of Troy; one son, Larry Evans and his wife, Melissa, of Troy, MO; two daughters: Theresa Turnbull of St. Charles, MO, and Susan Lane and her husband, Joseph, of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Jerome Evans and his wife, Donna, of Pacific, MO; one sister, Marilyn Brennan of Ballwin, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
