Obituary of Richard Henry Gnade

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Henry Gnade of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Gnade, Christopher Harmon, Mitchell Haag, Tyler Gnade, Cody Shilharvey and Dane Stuckey. Mr. Gnade, 81, passed away Friday afternoon, April 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born April 14, 1934 in Old Monroe, he was the son Christian “Chris” Emory and Elizabeth “Lee” Marie Wehde Gnade. He served his country in Europe following the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from May 24, 1955 until he was honorably discharged from active duty on May 8, 1957; and from the Army Reserves on April 30, 1963. Rich was united in marriage on October 28, 1961 in Josephville, MO to Mary Agnes Hepperman. This union was blessed with five children: Donna Marie, Michael Richard, Steven Gerard, Gina Ann and Sheila Kaye. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer for most of his life. Rich was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Old Monroe Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Old Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Lee Gnade; and one sister, Audrey Harmon. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Gnade of Old Monroe; two sons: Michael Gnade and his wife, Veronica, of Clinton, MS, and Steven Gnade and his wife, Karen, of Old Monroe; three daughters: Donna Shilharvey and her husband, Dale, of Troy, MO, Gina Gilley and her husband, Christopher, of Troy, and Sheila Stuckey and her husband, William, of Moscow Mills, MO; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Harold J. Gnade and his wife, Catherine, of O’Fallon, MO; one brother-in-law, Harlan Harmon of Troy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, with a Knights of Columbus Memorial Service held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Immaculate Conception Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Missouri Right to Life, the Coalition for Life of St. Louis, or the American Lung Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
