Obituary of Richard Glen Corter

Funeral Services for Richard Glen Corter of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Brian Andrews, pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in O’Fallon, MO, will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Rogalski, David Meyer, Pat Joslin, Danny DeLong and Adam Lemon. Mr. Corter, 73, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2015 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born May 1, 1941 in Arkansas, he was the son of Julius and Ruby Martin Corter. He was united in marriage on October 10, 1961 in St. Clair, MO to Darlene Kay Sohn. This union was blessed with three children: Angela Marie, Glen Richard and Mike Duane. Richard owned Corter Asphalt for many years, retiring in 2003. Richard was a former member of New Salem Masonic Lodge #270 AF&AM. He was a former mayor of the City of Winfield and a former Golden Glove Boxer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Ruby Corter; one sister, Martha Corter; one son, Mike Duane Corter, who died September 17, 2012; and his beloved wife of 50 years, Darlene Corter, who died August 3, 2012. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Rogalski of Winfield; one son, Glen Corter, also of Winfield; six grandchildren: Jessica Rogalski, Walter Rogalski, Edward Rogalski, Benjamin Corter, Jacob Corter and Jacqueline Corter; and three great-grandchildren, Lily Meyer, MaKayla Meyer and Orion Meyer. He also leaves five sisters: Pat Perkins and her husband, Melvin, of MO, Linda Boone of Willow Springs, MO, Brenda Lemon and her husband, Adam, also of Willow Springs, Bonnie Serif and her husband, Bill, of West Plains, MO and Debbie Martin of MO; five brothers: Jay Collins and his wife, Gloria, of MO, Freddie Harris of Chicago, IL, James Cozort and his wife, Florence, of Thayer, MO, Scott Zerman of CA and Clyde Martin of MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
